Summer Wind Farms Sanctuary

The vast majority of people associated with sanctuaries are unpaid volunteers. They usually learn from scratch; through a gradual process of increasing experience that leads to increasing privileges. People who do most of the work, who last the longest, or who make an honest effort to learn, usually get the best assignments.

Some facilities do not permit you to have physical contact with the animals. Others decide which animals you may interact with based on observation, including which animals enjoy your companionship. It is important to realize that volunteers should be helpful and an asset to the facility. That means doing all sorts of work, including, but not limited to, cleaning cages, building enclosures, preparing and dispensing food, and escorting visitors around the facility.
